CON Life

Matt Hintz

After a few years of exploring shows, I’ve started finding my niche at conventions. It feels like being at home for both myself and my art, in places that are diverse and rich in pop culture. Now I’m trying to start getting to other parts of the country. Come find me at a few! Or request me at your local con!

Artistreet

Matt Hintz

Following the success of Shane's mural in Calhoun Square, they offered us a chance to showcase local artists in their main hallway almost every weekend in late 2015 to mid 2016. We enjoyed building a community of artists with shared interest in displaying their works, and trying to build their brands. Some names that had participated include such artists as: Anna Hoover, Warren Peterson, SiK PiN, Jessi Sando, Maggie Moore, Caveman Clayworks, Pseudo Manitou, Angel Hawari, Sara Syverhus, Jin Wicked, and more. If not previously said, I thank all artists that participated in these events, and hope to someday rebuild this community at a different venue.

Thailand

Matt Hintz

In March of 2015, I had the opportunity to travel to Chiang Mai, Thailand with Shane Anderson. The three weeks we there were spent exploring, and also creating a mural with children of a small village. Their elementary school got a real cool facelift, and they all had a hand in helping paint it. It took 3 days to complete, and afterwards we had a big dinner with the village elders.

Chiang Mai was amazing to see, we visited many galleries and Buddhist temples, tried a lot of local cuisine, saw a lot of the night life, and drank a lot of Thailand's favorite beer (Chang). Pandas were a first time in person sight for both myself, and Shane at the Chiang Mai zoo. A last stop before we had to leave was Elephant Nature Park, A group that protects and cares for the endangered elephants. They allow people to visit in a tour setting with the idea that you're to help out in the feeding and bathing of the elephants.
